Entries for Die Burger Mountain Bike Challenge (formerly the Stellenbosch Mountain Bike Challenge) open at 12 noon on Monday, 15 June 2009. Please go to www.mtbchallenge.co.za to enter online or download an entry form.

Enter before 30 June and stand a chance of winning a two-night stay at the luxurious and historic d’Ouwe Werf Hotel situated in the heart of Stellenbosch!

While wearing a timing chip is not compulsory for this event, we would like to encourage all participants to please start wearing their chips at our MTB events as we will be using electronic timing for the Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB Challenge at Boschendal next year. As from 1 July, timing chips will cost R100. However, if you purchase a chip when entering Die Burger Mountain Bike Challenge before 30 June, you will get it at the special price of R80. If you already own a Winning Time or RaceTec chip, there is no need to purchase another one.

Entries are limited to 2750. We will not be accepting late entries in the longer distances so don’t delay!
We look forward to seeing you in Stellenbosch on 1 August.

Nine to Five team relay: Tuesday 16 June
A wonderful social event with riders, friends and families gathering on the lawn at Delvera Farm (near Stellenbosch) with a view of the dam, Klapmutskop, vineyards and the course. Bring your gazebo’s, chairs and blankets and relax (and ride!) on this public holiday.

The course will be set within the boundaries of our green route, with the most notable addition being Wouter’s Climb – the singletrack section climbing back up to the Pepper Tree on red route. Roughly 7km lap – fun to be had by all levels of riders!
Concept is simple:
Do as many laps as you want/can in the 8 hour period. Team or Solo rider completing the most laps wins.
It is not necessary for team members to ride in sequence and one team member can do as many consecutive laps as they like – we do the lap count check at the end of the day only.

– Teams of four or two riders with categories: mixed teams, open teams or juniors. Solo category entries are limited.
– Pre-entries only – closing 12 June 17h00. Entryform on front page of www.dirtopia.co.za
– First 100 entries receive a goodybag – so hurry up!
– Drinks at the start/finish for all riders throughout the day.
– Price between R90 – R120 (depending on category) Amarider members get R15 discount.
– Registration: Monday 15 June 09h00 to 17h00 or on raceday 07h30-08h45
– Hot showers available.
– No private picnics. Boeries, pancakes, sandwiches, muffins, snacks & drinks for sale at Trail Centre. Farm Kitchen on Delvera open as well.
– All riders will be timed with numberboard given at registration.
– Special on accommodation on Delvera: stay one night get one night free!
– A percentage of the entry fee will go towards the Klapmutskop Conservancy.
– Prizegiving and lucky draw at around 17h30.

I plan to be there. You?
