let the Epic begin…

So, tomorrow’s the day for the start of the 5th Cape-Epic MTB race, the world’s biggest MTB team stage event and the only one of its sort with UCI approval.
According to the Cape Epic web site the top 5 teams to watch are:

  1. Bulls: Karl Platt & Stefan Sahm
  2. Cannondale Vredestein: Roel Paulissen & Jabob Fuglsang
  3. Dolphins: Bart Brentjens & Alban Lakata
  4. Team Songo: Christoph Sauser & Burry Stander
  5. Raleigh MTN: Kevan Evans & David George

So, at least there seems to be 3 South Africans to watch in the top 10.

finally some Sani2C feedback

Posted on 10th March 2008 by mtbguy in sani2c

By now, it’s almost forgotten, so a full report will be a bit lame.
The highlights for me:

  • the vibe
  • the organisation: amenities, food, water points
  • but most of all: the route!

It really is difficult to describe just how awesome the actual route is and how much I enjoyed it.
Plenty of excellent single track, farm lands, water crossing, forest riding, beautiful scenery, great downhills, nature reserves and riding through sugar cane plantations.
All in all, a must for any SA mountain biker.
